ZumTri to Deliver Interactive Triathlon Race Results

zumtriAfter a race, have you ever wondered how far ahead or behind you were? Have you ever tried to analyze your triathlon race against the entire field, your rivals or friends by reviewing the splits provided in the spreadsheet format that most races offer? If you have then you know that it's a very manual process that requires you to design your own spreadsheet to see how the race panned out and even then it's very vague since you usually only have five splits to compare the entire triathlon event.

ZumTri is set to take triathlon results to the next level and make them come to life with the debut of its interactive virtual replay offering. Triathletes will now be able to analyze their overall race performance on an interactive map and see how they matched up against the entire field and/or their friends or rivals through interactive graphs and charts.

It creates informative snapshots of how you did beyond the standard race splits you usually get. It will give triathletes the ability to assess their strengths and weaknesses on the course and in general against others in their age group or division.

ZumTri works by taking event results and calculates the pace to estimate the participants’ positions throughout the race. Since it is compatible with current timing systems, it makes a location-based experience without requiring GPS. But what really sets ZumTri apart is the ability to share race details with others. The service looks like it will be free to participants. Watch a virtual race comparing yourself to your friends, your age group or your gender.

The 2009 USAT Collegiate National Championships will debut ZumTri application later this month. Race participants will be able watch a post-race, virtual replay of all participants on the race map. They can watch themselves compete against their friends, their division and all other athletes in the race.

ZumTri was formed by three brothers from the US Midwest who had the simple observation that race results could be made to come to life. Their goal is to make race results more engaging, fun and meaningful for endurance athletes.

This new offering from ZumTri looks very promising. They have a similar product called ZumRun for running events.
