Comolake MAN, New Iron Distance Triathlon in Northern Italy

ASD Triathlonlecco / Spartacus have announced a new Iron Distance Triathlon, Comolake Man, set to take place in and around Lake Como in the Lombardy region or Northern Italy. The inaugural race is set to take place in the city Lecco on August 22, 2009. Organizers feel that the new "Comolake MAN" has all it takes to become a favorite iron distance event for all Italian athletes.

When: Saturday, August 22, 2009 @ 7:00 AM
Where: Lecco, Lecco, Lombardy, Italy
Divisions: Age Group, Relays

The race will consist of a 3.8km, 2 loop swim in Lake Como. Then a spectacular 180km bike ride around the outer edge of the upside down Y shaped Lake Como. There will be 47 municipalities involved in the biking course which represents the true "show piece" of the race. Then a nice and flat 3 loop, 42.195km run around the lake from Lecco to Malgrate with and out and back south along Lago di Garlate.

The race is open to elite athletes, age group triathletes and relay teams.

The only other iron distance triathlon in Italy is the Elbaman Triathlon on the island of Elba. The race started back in 2004 with a half iron distance race and then converted to the full iron distance race format in 2005.
