The 2009 Blue Triad bike debuted this past August at the Beijing Olympic Games and now if you purchase a new Triad multisport/time trial bike from Blue Competition Cycles they are offering customers a FREE one hour session in a wind tunnel for some additional fine tuning.
The new Triad is a no holds barred, wind cheating triple threat, combining revolutionary aerodynamic design, aerospace quality carbon fiber and Blue’s proprietary fabrication process to create a multisport and time trial powerhouse unlike any other. Most aero frames are made to be aero sitting alone in a wind tunnel but the Triad’s design breaks new ground by taking into consideration the interaction of the rider with the frame and wheels to create a very low overall drag coefficient.
The new Triad is full-carbon offering with some nice additional features like the rear brake being located under the bottom bracket shell. Internal cable routing and Power-Arc curved chain stays to create a wind shadow for rear cassette & derailleur, similar to what you see on the new Scott Plasma bike. The Triad also uses a 1″ fork steerer to keep the front end low and narrow.
The standard configuration for the Triad is a build kit with the SRAM Red and Zipp 808 wheels (MSRP: $7,650) but Blue's plan is sell this bike complete with several other offerings with include Shimano Dura-Ace, SRAM Force and Shimano Ultegra SL.
