Revolution3 has announced a new Half Iron distance triathlon event in Middlebury, Connecticut that is designed to take the sport of triathlon to the next level. The overall focus of this event and future events will change the way athletes, family members, and spectators view and participate in triathlons of all distances.

The inaugural Half-Rev triathlon will feature a 1.2 mile Swim, a 56 mile Bike and a 13.1 mile Run and will be stages at the Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury, Connecticut. The venue will offers athletes a challenging scenic race course and a fun-filled, active day for family members and all spectators.
The event will feature a large professional prize purse of $100,000, coupled with $20,000 in cash and prizes for age-group athletes. The $100,000 prize purse will help attract the world's best professional triathletes to the new race; the list already includes Leanda Cave, Belinda Granger, Cameron Brown and Luke Bell.
A new and unique feature will be incorporated into the triathlon event that will allow friends, family and spectators to track athletes in real-time. Revolution3 is teaming up with Trakkers, a GPS technology company that will provide spectators real-time athlete information such as location, speed, heart rate, elevation and current pace. All of this information will be available for spectators to view at the race via computers set up in the transition area.
No pricing information is currently available but registration opens for this new half iron distance triathlon on October 1st, 2008.

Revolution3 has plans to add two new events in 2010. The second event planned for 2010 is an Olympic distance triathlon (.9 mile swim, 24 mile bike and 6.2 mile run) followed by a Full-Rev (2.4 miles swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run) rounding out the season in 2010.
