UPDATE: The additional entry slots for the 2009 Subaru Ironman Canada have SOLD OUT, again!
Historically, Ironman Canada has sold out on-site on registration day for a long time. I'm not sure if they have ever had online registration for the race ever. Back at the end of August, Ironman Canada registration made it to the web with about 400 registration slots available. They sold out in about 5 minutes.
Now comes word that North America Sports will be offering a limited number of additional slots for Ironman Canada come Thursday, September 11th at 10 am PST. Demand for these slots is expected to be high again, they will go fast.
Why again? Well it's due to the lower than expected number of athletes that activated their registration certificates that they picked up in person at registration. Is this a sign of the times, the economy, a change in attitude towards North America Sports or the WTC or because of the higher race fees? Ironman Wisconsin has normally sold out on-site as well but this year registration also made it to the web.
The slots will be available through a link posted on www.ironman.ca website beginning Thursday, September 11th at 10 am PST.
