Just yesterday came the announcement of the Ironman New Orleans 70.3 race, the 27th triathlon race in the Ironman 70.3 Series and today we have the 28th race added to the series with the addition of Ironman 70.3 Kansas. The new Ironman 70.3 Kansas race will take place in Lawrence, Kansas which is just west of Kansas City. It will serve as one of 28 worldwide qualifying events for the 2008 Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Clearwater, Florida.

A new feature race will also take place at the Ironman 70.3 Kansas race; it will also serve as the Ironman 70.3 Collegiate Championships race which will have University and College triathlon teams compete for both individual and team awards.
The swim will be held in Clinton Lake were water temperatures are expected to be around 74-77 F. The bike course will take athletes on a 56 miles ride through the rolling terrain on a challenging course known to local cyclists as the “Iron-Cross” which will feature long, winding, flat stretches matched with steep, challenging hills. No run course description has been posted yet.
There will be a professional prize purse of $25,000 and 50 qualifying slots for pro and age group athletes to the 2008 Ironman World Championship 70.3 taking place on November 8, 2008, in Clearwater, Fla.
Registration for Ironman 70.3 Kansas will open on November 14, 2007 and the prices are as follows:
Individual Entry:
• $175.00 before November 22, 2007
Team Entry:
• $300.00
- No other prices have been listed for registrations after November 22, 2007 but they are expected to be in the standard $225 - $250 dollar range, so register now if you want a price break.
- No field size limit has been announced
