Pumpkinman Adds a Half Iron Distance Race Option (Triathlon Juice (TRIJUICE)

The Pumpkinman Triathlon Festival which is organized by the Seacoast Riptide Triathlon Team has added a Half Iron distance triathlon race to the event schedule. The event previously only had a Sprint distance event. This will be the first Half Iron distance triathlon to be put on in the state of Maine.

The Pumpkinman Triathlon Festival will host the Sprint distance race on Saturday and the Half Iron distance race on Sunday. It's sure to be an exciting weekend for participants.

The half iron distance race will consist of:
- a two lap swim course totaling 1.2 miles in Knights Pond
- a beautiful 56 mile rolling bike course along the Eastern Trail (paved surface)
- a scenic two loop run totaling 13.1 miles

There will be a professional athlete’s purse of $5,000 for the Half Iron distance race. For the Sprint distance triathlon the first place overall male and female will win $100, second place $75, and third place $50. All athletes that registers for the half iron race will receive a tech tee-shirt, an embroidered tri-backpack, and a complete Harvest Dinner with Turkey and Pumpkin Pie.

Registration opens on Halloween Day, October 31st, 2007 and the prices are as follows:

Half Iron distance:
• $185.00 per individual before July 1st
• $190.00 per individual after July 1st

Sprint distance:
• $70.00 per individual before July 1st
• $75.00 per individual after July 1st

- There is a $10.00 fee for a one day license for non USAT members
- Each race has a field size of 450 athletes
- Online registration closes on September 1st, 2008 or when race is full

All proceeds generated by the 2008 Pumpkinman Triathlon Festival will be donated within the South Berwick and Eliot communities. The proceeds will help establish student athlete scholarships and provide funding for athletic programs within the local community.
