Last month we told you to expect some new race announcements in the Ironman 70.3 Series. As expected that time has come with today's announcement of the new Ironman 70.3 race in Boise, Idaho. This should bring the number of triathlon races in the 70.3 series, which consists of a 1.2 mile Swim, a 56 mile Bike and a 13.1 mile Run, to 28 races around the world.
Race organizers will incorporate a variety of Boise’s scenic areas (Lucky Peak Reservoir, Sandy Point Beach, the Boise Greenbelt and the downtown area) into the triathlon race. Because of this, the race will have two separate transition areas setup for the athletes. T1 will be at Lucky Peak Reservoir at Barclay Bay while T2 will be located at Front Street in downtown Boise.
The event will have a professional prize purse of $25,000 and 50 qualifying slots for pro and age group athletes to the 2008 Ironman World Championship 70.3 race taking place on November 11, 2008 Clearwater, FL.
Registration for the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Boise event will open on Saturday, October 13 at 2:00 pm EST.
