Salford BG Triathlon World Cup Results

ITU star Vanessa Fernandes of Portugal claims another victory, this time at the 2007 Salford BG Triathlon World Cup race in Salford, England. This was her 17th ITU World Cup win of her young career. She finished 19 seconds ahead of Samantha Warriner of New Zealand and 25 seconds ahead of third place finisher Kate Allen of Austria. Local favorite Andrea Whitcombe finished in fourth.

On the men’s side top ranked Javier Gomez of Spain used a fast swim and run to win the men’s race at the 2007 Salford BG Triathlon World Cup. He finished 12 seconds ahead of Brad Kahlefeldt of Australia. Simon Whitfield of Canada, the winner of last weeks Kitzbuhel World Cup race finished in third 18 seconds behind Gomez.

Top ranked Fernandes continues to move ahead in the 2007 BG Triathlon World Cup Series rankings with 239 points. Niwata’s fifth place finish moves her into second with 163 points while Kirsten Sweetland of Canada remains in third. With the win Gomez moves further ahead in the BG Triathlon World Cup rankings with 227 points. Whitfield moves up to second with his third place finish only 25 points back.
