Life Time Fitness announced the expansion of their Life Time Fitness Triathlon Series with a new race in October in Dallas, Texas. The city is set to host the inaugural Toyota U.S. Open Triathlon championship race on Sunday, October 14, 2007. The race will serve as the championship finale for the Life Time Fitness Triathlon Series. The series was started in 2006 by linking four of the most prominent Olympic distance triathlons in the U.S: Life Time Fitness Triathlon in Minneapolis, the Nautica New York City Triathlon, the Accenture Chicago Triathlon, and the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon.
The race will feature the top pro triathlete's, the top elite amateurs and the top age group finishers who participated in the Life Time Fitness Triathlon Series. This race is also open to general public. The Olympic distance race will start with a 1.5km swim at Joe Pool Lake in Cedar Hill State Park and continue with a 40km bike race from the park to Reunion Arena in downtown Dallas and finish with two 5km loops through downtown, finishing at Reunion Arena. There will also be a Sprint distance race consisting of an 800me swim, a 40km bike and a 5km run.
The U.S. Open will host the 2nd Annual Elite Age Group Championship. The 5 top age group finishers from Minneapolis, New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles will be flown to Dallas to compete in the Championship.
