Iron Girl Announces 2007 Schedule of Events

Tarpon Springs, FL (February 12, 2007) - Today, Iron Girl, the premier all-women’s event based brand, announces its schedule of events for 2007. RYKA will remain the title sponsor for the Iron Girl Event Series, with nine events nationwide. To accommodate the needs of females of all fitness levels, Iron Girl offers a variety of running, duathlon and triathlon events. The 2007 RYKA Iron Girl calendar includes the following:

  • April 1 - Clearwater, FL – 10K/5K
  • June 17 - Atlanta, GA – Triathlon (1/3 mile swim -18 mile bike - 3 mile run)
  • June 24 - Denver, CO – 5-Mile/5K
  • July 22 – Irving, TX – Triathlon (500M swim - 20K bike - 5K run)
  • August 19 - Columbia, MD – Triathlon (1K swim - 30K bike - 5K run)
  • September 3 – Boston, MA – 10K/5K
  • September 9 - Seattle, WA – 10K/5K
  • September 23 - Bloomington, MN – Duathlon (2 mile run - 22 mile bike – 2 mile run)
  • December 2 - Tempe, AZ – 10-Mile/5K

Launched in 2004 with just two events, the Iron Girl brand has grown to include a variety of unique events and amenities for females of all ages, from novice to seasoned athletes alike. The Iron Girl experience provides women with a competitive platform and amenities such as: a post-race catered Breakfast Café, RYKA performance shirts sized just for women, chip timing, personalized race bibs featuring each participants’ first name, custom finisher’s medals, post-race giveaways and much more.

The brand is supported by an interactive Web site filled with training tips, guest columnists, message boards and nutrition information. Iron Girl has also enhanced its offerings with the addition of the IronGirlShop.com with new items such as nutrition and hydration products, jewelry and sports bags. Additionally, Iron Girl will be launching a new technical apparel line in 2008.

For a second consecutive year, Iron Girl has teamed up with the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults (UCF). Based in Columbia, MD, UCF is the first and largest organization solely supporting young adults living with cancer. The mission of UCF is to provide support programs, education and resources, free of charge, to benefit young adults, their families and friends, who are affected by cancer, and to promote awareness and prevention of cancer. Iron Girl participants who raise more than $750 for UCF receive an array of giveaways to include Iron Girl apparel and gear, RYKA performance shoes and the chance to win a trip to the 2008 RYKA Iron Girl event of choice. In 2006 alone, Iron Girl athletes raised more than $40,000 in donations to support those living with and recovering from cancer.
