We have one new race on the Ironman schedule this year. This past year the World Triathlon Corporation added a new race to the schedule when they selected Louisville, Kentucky to host the Ford Ironman Louisville triathlon in August of 2007. This brings the number of qualifying races for the Ford Ironman World Championship to 29 if you include the qualifying slots available from some of the Ironman 70.3 races. The Ford Ironman World Championship race will be held in Kona, Hawaii in October. An Ironman triathlon consists of a 2.4 mile Swim, 112 mile Bike and a 26.2 mile Run. Only certain races only offer qualifying slots to the 2007 championship race because of their scheduled date, the other races have slots available for the 2008 championship race.
