The World Triathlon Corporation continues it's expansion of the 1 year old Ironman 70.3 series with the addition of the Ironman 70.3 Austria triathlon set to take place on Saturday, June 2, 2007 in St. Pölten, Austria. The 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike and 21.1 km run will take place in the wine-country of Lower Austria, which is just 50 minutes from Vienna. The race has a limit of 1,500 athletes; all who will vie for the 75 slots for the 2007 Ford Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Clearwater, Florida. This will be the 5th Ironman 70.3 race to take place in Europe.
The race course details are not final but this is in the press release. This race will be unique in that the run portion of the race will go by the St. Pölten tennis center 6 times during the half marathon, which gives it a track event feel but on the other hand offers spectators a great opportunity to watch and cheer you on at the end.
